Each walk has locations that exceed the maximum allowable slope of 8.33% (1:12) for a ramp and lack handrails and an intermediate level landing.

"George Washington´s Mount Vernon Mansion" Brochure: The brochure does not convey the same level of detailed information provided by tour guides/house interpreters and provides no access to question-and-answer interactions between tour guides/house interpreters and visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing.

b) The tour will offer tactile access to objects and reproductions that convey the main themes of the Orientation Center, including the Mansion´s structure and rooms, using the model in the Hands-on-History Room. The tour will provide audio description of computer interactives.

c) audio description for the orientation video;

d) alternate formats for exhibit label content and publically available maps and printed materials; and a revised accessible visitor´s map.

a) there are no alternate formats for the print exhibition labels;

b) there are no alternate formats for printed materials;

c) no objects in exhibitions are audio described or have information about them made available through tactile access;

d) no computer or other interactives have audio description;

e) no audio description is offered in the Hands-On-History room; and

f) no videos shown in theaters or exhibition spaces or that are available in the Teacher Resource Room have audio description.

Accessibility will be provided by:

a) alternate formats for exhibit label content and publicly available printed materials;

b) an audio-described tour on a walk-in basis. This tour includes all major attractions in the Center and tactile access to objects that cover the major themes of rooms, displays, and exhibitions;

c) audio description of the videos shown in theaters and the exhibition spaces; and

d) audio description of videos and computer interactives in the Teacher Resource Room upon advance request.

The Mansion

There are no accessible routes to these areas. A notebook with selected color photocopy images and text descriptions of the 2nd and 3rd floor spaces is provided. The notebook does not reflect the current room arrangements, finishes, and collections and does not include the basement. The notebook does not convey the same information as provided by the guides.

A notebook with up-to-date color images and text of the information will be provided to visitors who cannot walk to the basement, second, and third floors. A reading area will be provided for visitors who use the note book.
