I.         Building Entrance Issues


            Entrance Location

 

            A.        Main Entrance to Basement Snack Bar Lobby From Exterior           

 

                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Install a directional sign indicating that the accessible entrance is the Secondary Access/Exit from Snack Bar at South end of building. Standards §§ 4.30.1, 4.30.2, 4.30.3, 4.30.5.

 

            B.         Secondary Access/Exit From Snack Bar at South end of building through Office

 

Secondary Access/Exit from Snack Bar at South end of building through Office is inaccessible.

 

            The maneuvering space is not level.

 

There is a ¾" lip at threshold exterior door.


            There are no directional signs.


                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Re-pave the current entrance to ensure that the maneuvering space is level and to ensure that the running and cross slopes are ADA compliant. Standards §§ 4.13.6, Fig. 25, 4.3.7, 4.8.

 

                        2.         Install a handrail at this entrance. Standards § 4.26.


                        3.         Bevel the ¾" lip. Standards § 4.13.8.

 

                        4.         Install a directional sign indicating that this entrance is the accessible entrance to the snack bar. Standards §§ 4.30.1, 4.30.2, 4.30.3, 4.30.5.

 

II.       Accessible Route Issues to Student Spaces


            Interior Routes by Floor Level

 

            A.        Vestibule/Lobby Entrance


            The door width is inaccessible. There are a pair of 27 ¾" doors.


            There are no accessible room signs.


                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Tear down the 27 ¾" doors and install a door with a minimum clear opening of 32", or install a magnetic hold open device, or an auto-opening door. Standards §§ 4.13, 4.13.12.

 

                        2.         Install accessible room signs. Standards §§ 4.30.1, 4.30.4, 4.30.5, 4.30.6.

 

III.      Primary Student Space Issues


            Student Spaces

 

            A.        Snack Bar Food Service Area


            The snack bar counter is inaccessible. It is 41" in height.

            

                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Lower the counter and remove a few feet of the counter top which would allow a wheelchair user to pull up to get food and to pay for food. Standards § 7.2.

 

IV.      Restroom Accessibility


            Student Restrooms

 

            A.        Basement Men’s Restroom


                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Install a directional sign indicating that the accessible men’s restroom is in the Athletic Fitness Center. Standards §§ 4.30.1, 4.30.2, 4.30.3, 4.30.5.

 

            B.        Basement Women’s Restroom


                        Remedy:

 

                        1.         Install a directional sign indicating that the accessible women’s restroom is in the Athletic Fitness Center. Standards §§ 4.30.1, 4.30.2, 4.30.3, 4.30.5.

 

V.        Miscellaneous Accessibility Issues


            There is no visual fire alarm in the lobby area.


                        Remedy:

 

              1.        Install a visual fire alarm in the lobby area in accordance with the requirement in paragraph 12 of the Agreement. Standards § 4.28.3.
