HVAC Systems
An owner of a small manufacturing facility replaces an aging heating and air conditioning system. The owner is concerned that replacing the system will force other changes to the building to comply with the ADA. After checking the ADA regulations, the owner sees that changes to mechanical or electrical systems are not considered alterations unless they affect usability. Since changing the heating and air conditioning system does not affect usability, there is no ADA requirement.
