Attachment I: Access to City Programs

 

1.         Within eighteen months of the effective date of this Agreement, the City will report to the Department all City parks that lack an accessible route to at least one of every type of point of interest located in the park, including but not limited to baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, play equipment, picnic areas, shelters, and pavilions.  Within three years of the effective date of this Agreement, the City will ensure that each of the parks identified by the City pursuant to this provision has accessible routes complying with the Standards to at least one of every point of interest in the park.

 

2.         Within three years of the effective date of this Agreement, the City will provide call buttons at every fire station that is inaccessible to persons with disabilities.  The call buttons shall be provided at the main entrance of the building within the appropriate reach ranges for persons who use wheelchairs, with signage indicating "if need assistance, please ring button" with raised characters, Braille and the International Symbol of Accessibility.

 

3.         The City will immediately submit a complete and detailed set of blueprints, architectural drawings and specifications for the City's new Museum of Art and new John O'Donnell Stadium.  Within a reasonable amount of time, the Department will review these materials for compliance with the Standards and submit a report to the City outlining its findings.  Upon receipt of the Department's report, the City will make the appropriate changes to the drawings in order to ensure that the construction of the facilities comply with the Standards for new construction.       

 

4.         The Annie Wittenmyer Branch Library located at 2800 Eastern Avenue is being relocated to a new site.  Before construction on this site begins, the City shall submit a complete and detailed set of blueprints, architectural drawings and specifications to the Department.  Within a reasonable amount of time, the Department will review these materials for compliance with the Standards and submit a report to the City outlining it findings.  Upon receipt of the Department's report, the City will make the appropriate changes to the drawings in order to ensure that the construction of the facility complies with the Standards for new construction.     

 

5.         The Annie Wittenmyer Parks and Recreations Office located at 2800 Eastern Avenue is being relocated to a new site in the next year or so.  Within three months of the effective date of this Agreement, the City will implement and report to the Department its plan to provide program access to the Parks and Recreation Office, which may include allowing persons with disabilities to conduct business at an alternate location, such as City Hall.
