A.        Garage 1 (245 Andalusia Avenue):

 

1.         Parking.  Although there are 4 standard and 1 "van-accessible" spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities throughout this garage, there is inadequate clearance and no van-accessible signage for the "van-accessible" space and no curb ramp or curb cut provided to access the standard spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities.  Additionally, there is an insufficient number of standard spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space and six standard space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Provide a minimum vertical clearance of 98 inches at designated van accessible parking spaces and along at least one vehicle access route to such spaces from site entrances and exits.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5)(b), 4.6.5, 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

B.         Garage 4 (385 Andalusia Avenue): Although 5 of the 654 spaces are designated as reserved for persons with disabilities, this is an inadequate number of spaces and none of the designated spaces have the required access aisle width, signage, or vertical clearance required for "van-accessible" spaces.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide four van accessible spaces and 28 standard spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Provide a minimum vertical clearance of 98 inches at designated van accessible parking spaces and along at least one vehicle access route to such spaces from site entrances and exits.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5)(b), 4.6.5, 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

C.        Garage 5 (50 Andalusia Avenue):  None of the 239 spaces are accessible; the garage has an inaccessible elevator; the vertical clearance in the garage is only 6 feet 6 inches.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance the first floor of the garage, provide one van accessible spaces and six standard spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Provide a minimum vertical clearance of 98 inches at designated van accessible parking spaces and along at least one vehicle access route to such spaces from site entrances and exits.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5)(b), 4.6.5, 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

D.        Garage 6 (1 Aragon Avenue): There are 101 public parking spaces and 345 permit-only spaces (permits may be bought by members of the public).  There are 4 "universal" parking spaces provided, all in the "public" area (all of which have unclear pavement markings).  There are no accessible spaces in the permit-only portion of the garage.  There is no vertical clearance on the upper levels for vans.    On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance in the public parking area, provide one van accessible space and seven standard spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Make this accessible parking available to permit parkers with disabilities. Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

E.         Lot 2 (2301 Salzedo Avenue): Although 1 of the 9 spaces is designated as reserved for persons with disabilities, there is no access aisle and no "van-accessible" signage.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Ensure that van accessible spaces are a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  At all spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities, provide vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  At van accessible spaces, provide an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Ensure that all spaces and access aisles for persons with disabilities are flat and level, with slopes and cross-slopes not exceeding 1:50 in all directions, and that their surfaces are firm, stable, and slip-resistant.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

F.         Lot 3 (350 Aragon Avenue): Although 2 of the 27 spaces are designated as reserved for persons with disabilities, neither is van-accessible or complies with the requirements for "standard" accessible stalls, including requirements regarding the width of access aisle and spaces.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space and one standard space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

G.        Lot 7 (221 Almeria Avenue):  One of 31 spaces is a "universal" space; need an additional standard space.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one standard space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

H.        Lot 8 (240 Giralda Avenue): None of the 31 spaces are accessible.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space and one standard space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Standard accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 60 inches wide.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

I.          Lot 10 (361 Palermo Avenue): Although there are 14 parking spaces, there are no spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  All spaces designated as reserved for people with disabilities shall have vertical signs with the International Symbol of Accessibility located such that they cannot be obstructed by parked vehicles.  Van accessible spaces shall have an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).

 

J.          Lot 11 (4000 Block Aurora Street):  None of the 18 parallel parking spaces are accessible.  On the shortest accessible route to the accessible entrance, provide one van accessible space designated as reserved for people with disabilities.  Ensure that van accessible spaces are a minimum of 96 inches wide and served by access aisles at least 96 inches wide.  At van accessible spaces, provide an additional "Van-Accessible" sign located below the International Symbol of Accessibility.  Ensure that all spaces and access aisles for persons with disabilities are flat and level, with slopes and cross-slopes not exceeding 1:50 in all directions, and that their surfaces are firm, stable, and slip-resistant.  Standards §§ 4.1.2(5), 4.6, 4.30.7(1).
